At Manna Gallery, our selection process begins with art that moves us. When we want to learn more about an artist, we usually begin with a studio visit to get to know the artist, their art and process. From there, we discuss how the work might fit within our space and exhibition calendar, and what form the show might take—whether a solo, two-person, or group exhibition.
There are no strict rules for what we look for. That said, it’s always helpful for artists to consider a few things before approaching any gallery: readiness to exhibit, the clarity of their presentation, and how their work connects with the gallery’s focus and aesthetic.
We’re interested in emerging and mid-career Northern California artists with a solid, cohesive body of work that’s easy to view online—through a current website or an active social media presence. A strong exhibition history or gallery representation can be helpful, but it’s not required. We’re always open to emerging artists who show professionalism, a distinct point of view, and a vision that aligns with the spirit of our gallery. In the end, it’s all about the work—its quality, voice, and authenticity.
Manna Gallery does not represent artists. When we do work together, we value clear communication, mutual respect, and professionalism, supported by a simple written agreement.
We discover many of the artists we work with through social media, so sharing your work and process online is a good way to get on our radar. We also visit exhibitions and open studios. The key is to keep creating, developing your style, and presenting your work thoughtfully. Keep your website and social media current, apply to open calls, organize small shows, and keep building a portfolio that feels true to you.
And if your work isn’t the right fit for our gallery, that’s perfectly fine—it may be just right somewhere else. Stay genuine to your vision and process. Creative integrity always finds its place.
If you’re interested in submitting your work to a gallery, start by learning whether the gallery is currently accepting submissions. Take time to understand the kind of artists they represent, and the type of work they show.
When you’re ready to reach out, a clear and professional email is best. Include:

Submitting your work is an important first step. It’s worth remembering that not every gallery will be the right match, and some may not respond. What matters most is continuing to make your art, understanding your goals, and seeking out opportunities that align with them.
